Youth Ministry & Sacramental Preparation 2016-2017

RCIT – Rite of Christian Initiation of  Teens

Teens who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors and have not yet received the Sacraments of Baptism, 1st Eucharist, and/or Confirmation; Christ the King offers a 2-year program designed to prepare them for the sacraments of Baptism, 1st Eucharist, and/or Confirmation. The first year of our high school sacramental preparation, the teens are considered Disciples, and the second year, the teens are Apostles.  The teen’s sacramental preparation includes fulfilling weekly Mass obligations, attending the Sunday AD Life Nights (Life Teen), participating in Wednesday RCIT classes, completing a certain number of Service Project Hours, and participating in a yearly RCIT retreat.

The Diocese of Phoenix requirements for those receiving the Sacraments of Initiation states that each teen must display an openness of heart through Mass attendance, consistent attendance at formation sessions, participation in a Sacraments of Initiation retreat, and a willingness to participate in community service.

Youth Ministry programs at Christ the King

Life Teen is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. At our parish, the priests, youth minister, and CORE Team of adults, build an environment where teens feel loved, accepted, and compelled. Through the Mass and Life Nights, high school teens learn more about their Catholic faith and grow to love the Sacraments, the Word, and the Liturgy.

Edge is open to all students in grades 6-8. Through dynamic catechesis and small group mentoring, we lead our teens into a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. As with Life Teen, EDGE is also Eucharist-centered.
