As Catholics, we have a responsibility to meet the needs of our local parish and to collectively act to support those activities that benefit us all. Together Let Us Go Forth, Juntos Sigamos Adelante is the campaign being conducted in each of the parishes across our Diocese. It is our opportunity to address both immediate needs and long-term issues.

The Diocese’s collective goal is $100-million.  This is designed to ensure funding for future seminarians, care for our senior priests, strengthen Catholic education, support Newman Centers, expand parish and social service ministries, and address current collective priorities of the Diocese.  The big part of this goal, which is 35 cent for every dollar collected, will support the parish programs.  In our case, our parish goal is $1,917,641.00.  If we meet our goal, our share will be $680,000.  And if we exceed our parish goal, 100% of it will go to our parish to support our programs.

The parish goal that is One Million and Nine Hundred Seventeen Thousand and Six Hundred Forty One Dollars ($1,917,641.00) may seem like a daunting amount.  But with God all things are possible.  How are we going to do this?

The good news is that there is a way to do this.  But it requires full participation of the entire parish.

Therefore, I will ask every family to:

  • Listen and Learn. Come to understand the needs of our parish and Diocese in a very detailed way. See the impact of what the funds raised will do.

  • Reflect and Pray. Consider what all will be accomplished and the importance of the Church in your life. As a family, seek God’s guidance as to how you can best help. Ask questions and ensure your understanding during this period.

  • Decide and Act. When you feel you have had your questions answered and determine how best you can assist, please make your pledge and celebrate with all our parish families and families throughout the diocese.

Let me tell you just a little bit about our plans for the funds returned to us here at Christ the King:

The parish community center is our highest priority…

Through the use of this building, we host meetings, such as the Knights of Columbus and other parish ministries…

We serve many families each week through HOPE Ministry, Mission of Mercy and St. Vincent de Paul…

Projects include:

  • Renovation of Community Center restrooms

  • Demo existing storage rooms and create more meeting rooms

  • New interior lighting

  • New exterior parking lot lighting

  • Replace existing asphalt, upgrade drainage

  • Covered awning area at rear of center

  • Future meeting rooms in modular buildings at rear of site

  • New concrete pad at rear of center

  • Construct new storage on east wall of the Center hall

  • New stainless-steel shelving in pantry

  • New floor coating in pantry

Consider a percentage on how each of you can sacrifice for the work of the Lord.  Those who are richly blessed can give more.  We can never out-give God.  I can’t explain it.  But every time I have been generous to the Lord, He has blessed me beyond measure.  We don’t give to get back in return; we give because we are blessed.

On my part, I commit to give every month to this campaign in addition to the support I have been giving to educate children in poor communities in the Philippines.

I commit to you to be a good steward of our resources and be transparent in our finances.  We will publish the progress of our campaign.  In the coming weeks, we will be sharing more information with you during Mass, in the bulletin, at receptions, and through information packets for each family.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
