We have room for people with every level of experience, from those who just know how to find a space bar on the computer or a volume knob on a soundboard to those who have actually designed systems like these and have worked as professionals, and everything in between. There are many roles in the audiovisual ministry, and there are people of all various skill levels all sorts of skill levels who serve in one way or another.

  • Soundboard Operator. Entry level operators make sure all lines in use can be heard and sound as good as possible, sometimes using a tablet computer to control the board from around the church.
  • Slide Operator. If you can find the space bar on the computer, and know how to double click on the mouse, we can show you how to navigate through the script for the mass. More experienced operators create and format the slides and scripts. While you may see operators doing both sound and slides during a mass, sometimes it really helps to have two different people working those jobs!
  • Live Stream Operator. We use a program that takes various audio and visual sources and sends it to the internet for our live stream masses. More advanced operators experiment with camera angles, transition techniques, and other things that we use to enhance the liturgy as it goes over the world wide web.
  • Facebook Live Stream Operator. We use a tablet computer to stream straight to Facebook live that is mounted either on a tripod or on a Swivl device (that’s also used in the school) which can actually move the camera back and forth following the person holding the marker.

These are the more common positions, and we also add support for other parish events and video projects as well.  As you can see, the possibilities are endless.

If you or someone you know would like to join the AV ministry and help us as we serve the parish through audio-visual media, please feel free to contact me.
